"Food, in the end, in our own Jamaican tradition, is something holy. It's not about nutrients and calories. It's about sharing. It's about honesty. It's about identity. It is Love."
Food is a huge part of Jamaican culture. Our food is prevalent on holidays and special events and is the common thing that bonds us together. Here, we would like to share and pass down a few family recipes dear to our heat and deep to our souls.

Welcome to Taste of Heritage, by The Descendants of Solomon and Elizabeth Hibbert of St. Catherine and Kingston Jamaica. We have named the book as such to pay our respects to Solomon and Elizabeth, AKA Nana and Pappi who were born in the late years of the 1800’s. Nana and Pappi were not rich by any standard, but they worked hard and instilled rich family values in which we display in today’s world.
Our cookbook is one way to pass on timeless traditions and share who we are with the world.
Jamaican cuisine is colorful, vibrant, and a culmination of African, European, and Indian influences. There is nothing bland about it. When you experience the foods that we have perfected, it will take you down memory lane and have you yearning for more.
Each recipe submission will tell a story that paints a picture about the history behind the food and our family. We are excited to share the deepness of our culture and the warmth of our heart.
