The Elizabeth Hibbert Award acknowledges a descendant who has contributed to their community and proved to be a source of pride for us all. Elizabeth Hibbert was the soul of the Hibbert clan, and this award pays homage to her desire to contribute to the family in positive ways. Each reunion, the committee votes on which family member embodies Elizabeth’s spirit.
Elizabeth was also an example for others to follow: married twice with two sets of children, she always kept all of the children together, creating one large and extended family.
As a dedicated nurse, she cares for others with skill and compassion, and at home she is the steady presence who keeps us connected — always
celebrating family, joining every gathering, and going out of her way to make sure we’re educated and healthy.
She inspires our young people to work hard and aim high, mentoring and
encouraging success at every step. Each year she opens her home for our
cherished Jamaican Independence celebration, filling the day with warmth, culture, and the joy of togetherness.
